Though there is now a clearer historical picture of the Gardens, the information relating to its botanical value is poor and the Friends are keen to pull together a ‘wildlife’ survey.  An RSPB warden is kindly guiding our steps in planning a bird survey.  As a starting point he is offering a guided bird walk round the Gardens in early November.  To encourage the bird population he suggests we should consider setting up a feeding station (which would need to be serviced daily) and put up nest boxes.  Anyone interested in box building, joining a feeder filling rota, or coming on the walk – please get in touch.  A survey of other smaller flying residents of the gardens will require more help and advice – is there a willing entomologist out there?
